2011 North Sumatra Jazz Festival – Road to Festival

On this May 20 at Deli Hall – Danau Toba International Hotel in Medan, North Sumatra Jazz Festival 2011 – Road to Festival was held successfully. The NSJF 2011 – Road to Festival itself was held as a “warming up” event or a first announcement to public before the North Sumatra Jazz Festival (NSJF) 2011 itself that will be held on July 1 and 2 later. Coming from bright and uplifting ideas from Erucakra Mahameru, the jazz musician whose originally from Medan who has achieved his fame internationally, teams up with Gideon Momongan, a senior jazz journalist and photographer who also stood behind many jazz festivals in Indonesia as Festival Director, Medan – the North Sumatra capital city, finally will have their own jazz festival named North Sumatra Jazz Festival 2011 which will be held next July.

The idea itself got the realization after Erucakra’s latest performance with his C-Man Band in Java Jazz Festival 2011. With C-Man, Erucakra had also successfully climbed i-Tunes chart by their complex but infectious composition, “Aranti’s Code” and received remarkable review from Karl Sterling, Jimmy Haslip of Yellowjackets Production and Grammy nominee Allen Wentz.
